If a system cannot be understood after the installer leaves, I don't consider the handoff complete.
During installation, the people building the system know where cables terminate, which devices connect to which ports, what equipment serves each area, and why something was configured a particular way.
The operating team doesn't necessarily have that knowledge.
Neither does the technician who may walk into the building two years later.
Good restaurant technology labeling transfers some of that knowledge from the people who built the system to the people who eventually have to operate and support it.
